Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice.

The goal of the Kerr Intercultural Education and Dialogue Initiative is to create a new generation of public servants and academic leaders committed to human rights and to the resolution of conflict by peaceful means. The Initiative pursues this goal in multiple ways: by providing undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships to students from post-conflict and developing nations; by sponsoring seminars and forums on cross-cultural communication, conflict resolution, and human rights issues; and by promoting international service opportunities for students and faculty.
